    A REGULATED PATH FORWARD

You don’t have to face debt alone.

A registered debt counsellor can assess affordability and explain whether debt review is suitable for you.

    WHY DEBT REVIEW?

Structure. Support. A clearer way forward.

If you are over-indebted, a registered counsellor may propose a restructured repayment plan based on your circumstances.

    Potentially lower repayments

A proposal may adjust repayment terms to better reflect your available monthly budget.

    One structured payment path

Approved arrangements may consolidate distributions to participating credit providers.

    Professional, regulated support

Your assessment and proposal are managed through the formal debt counselling process.

    DEBT REVIEW, EXPLAINED

Understand the process before you apply.

Clear essentials about assessment, repayment restructuring and your responsibilities while under debt review.

Debt review, also called debt counselling, is a regulated process for consumers who may be over-indebted. A registered debt counsellor assesses affordability and may recommend a restructured repayment proposal.

Credit providers and credit bureaus are notified when a formal debt review application is made, and a debt counselling indicator may appear on your credit profile. The provider should explain how clearance is recorded when the process is completed.

Consumers formally under debt review generally may not enter into new credit agreements until the applicable debts have been settled and the required clearance process has been completed.

The duration depends on your balances, affordability, repayment proposal, creditor responses and legal process. Your counsellor should provide an estimate based on your circumstances.

Applicable counselling, legal and payment-distribution fees depend on the regulated process and your matter. A provider should disclose the fees clearly before you proceed.

Withdrawal is not always possible once formal findings or court processes are in place. Ask a registered debt counsellor to explain the rules that apply to your stage of the process.
